2024 Election: Amenfi Central MP withdraws as independent candidate

Amenfi Central Constituency Member of Parliament in the Western Region, Mr Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, has formally withdrawn his independent candidacy for the 2024 parliamentary election, bringing an end to his independent campaign.

The announcement, made in a press statement dated November 18, 2024, cited the recent High Court and Electoral Commission ruling, which confirmed the NDC’s candidate as eligible to contest, as a primary reason for his decision.

Kwakye-Ackah claims that the High Court’s ruling successfully addressed the problems that led to his original choice to run on his own.

He thanked the party’s elders and other leaders for their advice, saying that in the end, their advice helped him decide to put the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) unity and interests ahead of his own goals.

“I wish to inform the good people of Amenfi Central and the general public of my decision to withdraw my independent candidature from the 2024 Amenfi Central Parliamentary election forthwith,” Kwakye-Ackah stated in his release.

“In closing, he reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC and expressed optimism for the future, extending well-wishes for the NDC’s success in Amenfi Central and nationwide.”
