Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor was elected as the new Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency after the general elections in 2024.
According to the preliminary results from each of the constituency’s 263 polling places, the independent candidate has won handily.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Joy Joycelyn Andoh, received 12,903 votes, representing 16.93% of the total number of valid votes.
Salifu Taylor’s victory ended Mireku Duker’s term as MP since 2016, indicating a change in voter sentiment indicated by the election results.
Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor thanked his supporters for their unwavering faith in his leadership after the provisional results were announced.
