The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has claimed that Ghana will gain a great deal from the NPP remaining in power.
He emphasized that the party has created a number of measures intended to improve Ghanaians’ quality of life and encourage the expansion of businesses.
Dr. Bawumia claims that these programs are meant to promote economic growth and enhance the general well-being of the people.
Dr. Bawumia presented his vision for Ghana’s future during a campaign stop at the Kaneshie market in Okaikoi South. He highlighted the establishment of a flat tax policy in cedis that would apply to all items and a tax amnesty to avoid confusion with the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Additionally, he emphasized the party’s dedication to helping women-owned enterprises and small companies by creating a fund for women’s trade empowerment and a SME bank.
Dr. Bawumia also declared plans to eliminate the e-levy, increase the validity of driver’s licenses to ten years, and remove import duties on mobile phones. He also pledged to teach the kids digital skills.
In his appeal for support, Dr. Bawumia stressed that his opponent, former President John Dramani Mahama, would not be held responsible because of his short four-year tenure.
He said, “We are introducing a new directive to reform the import regime at the Port, including a flat tax policy in cedis, applicable to all goods, making Ghana’s import duty comparable to or lower than Togo’s. We are also launching a women’s bank, an SME bank dedicated to supporting women traders with financial assistance for their businesses.
“Additionally, we are introducing a tax amnesty to avoid confusion with the Ghana Revenue Authority and eliminating import duty on mobile phones.”
“Furthermore, we will extend the validity of driving licences to 10 years, abolish the e-levy, and provide digital skills training for the youth. If you vote for former President John Dramani Mahama, he will only be accountable for four years. However, if you vote for me, I will have the opportunity to be accountable to you for a longer period.”
