Gregory Afoko granted bail after 10 years on remand for murder

The High Court in Accra has granted bail to Gregory Afoko, a key suspect in the 2015 murder of Adams Mahama, the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), after he was detained for almost ten years.

The court made a significant move in a case that has lasted nearly ten years by setting bail at GH₵500,000 with two sureties.

Accused of planning with others to carry out a vicious acid attack outside of Mahama’s Bolgatanga residence, Afoko was arrested in 2015.

The trial is still going on as the state presses its case, even though his bail indicates that his defense is making headway.
