The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the tragic death of Yabane Deladem Aku, a 21-year-old Level 400 Biological Science student at Kumasi’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Daniel Tuffour, a suspect, was taken into custody and is now helping with the investigation.
Police said in a statement released Thursday, February 27, 2025, that preliminary investigations showed the deceased was discovered unconscious in the early hours of the morning behind the Central Laboratory on campus.
“She was pronounced dead by medical authorities from KNUST Hospital who examined the body at the scene before it was conveyed to the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy,” the statement said.
When police examined the body, they found signs of violence, which raised questions about the student’s death.
Daniel Tuffour was arrested by the police after additional crime scene investigations, and he is still being held while the investigation is ongoing.
