Dr Augustine Luguterah urges GFA to strengthen player development structures

Director of the Sports and Wellness Directorate at the University of Ghana, Dr Augustine Luguterah has demanded that in order to enhance player development in the nation, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) enact stronger and more organized regulations.

In recent years, Ghana, a four-time African champion, has strengthened the Black Stars by depending more and more on players who were born in Europe.

Dr Augustine Luguterah feels that the country’s inability to set up long-term player development system is highlighted by this trend.

He cautioned that unless a suitable succession plan was established, Ghana’s difficulties on the global scene would persist.

He determined that a significant flaw impeding the nation’s football development was the absence of consistency in player progression.

“Although players used to advance through the ranks organically, we now dismantle teams following each tournament and begin the scouting process anew,”Dr Augustine Luguterah told Accra-based Original TV
