The Ministry of Health has rejected assertions made by Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the former Finance Minister, that three hospitals under the Agenda 111 project were successfully finished, outfitted, and put into service prior to the departure of the previous administration.
At a press conference on Monday, March 3, Dr. Adam announced that three Agenda 111 hospitals had been finished and that $1.3 billion had been set aside specifically for the completion of the remaining Agenda 111 hospital projects.
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Health Ministry, however, urged the public to ignore these claims.
On March 3, 2025, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Health Minister, traveled to Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality and Kokoben in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region to evaluate the condition of the Agenda 111 hospitals, according to the statement.
The visit revealed the absence of vital medical systems and equipment, including imaging equipment, mortuary equipment, medical gas systems, and more.
The Ministry therefore said that “Per the above stated facts, the Ministry emphasizes that the assertion by the former Finance Minister, Hon. Dr. Amin Adams, that these hospitals were completed and equipped before commissioning, is inaccurate and a calculated attempt to mislead the general public.”
“The Ministry remains committed to ensuring the timely completion and full operationalisation of the Agenda 111 hospitals to improve healthcare delivery across the country. We appreciate the patience and support of the general public as we work towards achieving this goal.”
