On Monday 13th February, 2023 the Minister for youth and sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif begun an official tour of the ongoing construction works of the multi purpose Youth Resource Centres at Ho in the Volta Region and Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
After touring the facility at Ho, the Minister addressed the media who accompanied him on the tour.
In his remarks, he indicated that government is committed to the development of sports infrastructure in the country adding that government has invested hugely in the sector.
” The investment in sports under H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is unprecedented ” he stated.
He further noted that all the investment in sports infrastructure will help to discover and develop talents across the country.
He used the opportunity to stress on Ghana’s preparation towards hosting the rest of Africa in the 13th African Games adding that the construction of the various infrastructure will help to host a successful African Games.
He explained that, phase two of the six multi purpose Youth Resource Centres will be ready for commissioning and use by the end of the first quarter of the year while the second phase of the remaining four facilities will commence soon.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of works so far and asked the contractor working on the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre to speed up works.
The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Executive of the National Youth Authourity, Pious Enam Hadzide whose organisation has the oversight responsibility for the construction of the facilities.
The Minister will continue with his tour to the remaining facilities in the coming weeks.
