State burial for ET Mensah underway in Accra

ET Mensah, a former member of the Council of State and member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency, is currently being laid to rest in the State House Forecourt.

A wide range of dignitaries from both sides of the political spectrum and all spheres of society are present at the service, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama.

At the age of 77, Mr. Mensah passed away in South Africa in October 2023 following a protracted illness. In the same month, his body was later transported to Ghana.

Giving further information on the last burial rites for the late statesman, ET Mensah’s body was moved around some of his properties and businesses yesterday, according to Ade Coker, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress. On Friday, a vigil service was held at Prampram in memory of the statesman.

Also, on Sunday, January 7, 2024, a thanksgiving service will be held at the Prampram Methodist Church.

Born on May 17, 1946, Enoch Teye Mensah served as Ghana’s Minister of Education and a member of parliament from January 1997 until January 2017.
