Parliament resumes sitting today after abrupt adjournment

Parliament is set to resume sitting today, Tuesday, June 11, after an abrupt adjournment on March 20, 2024.

The House was adjourned following a letter from the Presidency cautioning against the transmission of the anti-gay bill to the President for assent.

The Majority Caucus petitioned the Speaker for an urgent reconvening to address key government business items, including the adoption of the Thirty-Fourth Report of the Appointments Committee and a motion on additional financing.

Proceedings are expected to commence today, following a recall letter from the Office of the Speaker to Members of Parliament.
