The Court of Appeal’s ruling to exonerate and release former Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the well-known ambulance procurement case has validated the long-standing suspicion, according to former President John Dramani Mahama.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer claims that this ruling has been heralded as a triumph for justice and has strengthened rumors that the case was driven by political motivations.
To the happy surprise of many, he explained, the Court of Appeal upheld the appeal that had been filed after the High Court had denied a no-case petition.
‘’This ruling is seen as a testament to the resilience of the judicial system in Ghana, affirming that justice can still prevail in the country”, Mr Mahama said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Commenting on the ruling, Mr Mahama stated, “This is a victory for the rule of law and confirms my long-held view that the whole case was political persecution.
It shows that we still have justice in this country, and we can work to make the Judiciary what we want it to be.”
“We need a judicial system that we can all be proud of, and I am committed to making that a reality,” he added.
