Construction resumes on Kejetia Market Redevelopment Project

The start of phase two of the Kejetia-Central Market redevelopment project has excited traders in the Ashanti region, as the project had been abandoned for more than a year.

To allay their concerns that the project will be used to deceive them during the forthcoming general elections, the traders have urged the government to guarantee it is completed as soon as feasible.

Due to a lack of funding, phase two of the Kejetia-Central Market reconstruction project was abandoned in early 2023. Work on the project began in 2022.

The Ashanti region’s traders and citizens called the government multiple times to request that work be resumed; some even threatened to stage a protest in order to pressure the government into allocating funding for the restart of operations.

Work has finally begun after more than a year of abandonment, and the traders are happy about it.

But given that contractors have not been able to offer completion dates, they have voiced concerns regarding the timing of the work’s start.

As a result, traders are pleading with the government to guarantee that the work is finished quickly.
