More than 300,000 teachers in Ghana now have computers thanks to the Akufo-Addo administration’s One Teacher, One Laptop initiative, which has reached important milestones.
The project, which was introduced in September 2021, is to improve learning and teaching results in institutions of pre-tertiary education.
Ten of the sixteen areas had finished distributing laptops as of August 9, 2024, helping nearly 300,000 teachers.
Mop-up efforts are underway in the remaining six regions to guarantee that all qualified instructors get computers by the end of August.
Regional Breakdown
Thus far, the distribution has been accomplished in the following regions: Savannah, North East, Oti, Ahafo, Western North, Upper West, Bono, Northern, Upper East, and Bono East.
While mop-up operations are underway in the Ashanti, Greater Accra, Eastern, Central, and Volta regions.
The effort aims to improve learning and teaching results, improve research, learning, and lesson preparation, and enable digital online training using modules certified by the National Teaching Council. Improves student engagement, creativity, and automation in academic centers; teaches in accordance with the National Teachers Standards.
