The Kumasi Traditional Council has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, to appear before it regarding some purportedly disparaging comments he made regarding the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Council has requested that the NPP’s leadership make sure Mr.Boasiako shows up before it on Monday of next week to address remarks he allegedly made during the screening of Manhyia South’s parliamentary candidates.
The NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong took a few regional party officers to the Manhyia Palace to discuss the matter.
The NPP General Secretary begged the Council to grant the party two weeks to convince Chairman Wontumi to accept the invitation, informing the members that Wontumi is presently ill.
Members of the Ashanti Kingdom clan who make up the council are furious and disgusted by something Chairman Wontumi is said to have said.
Chairman Wontumi has to appear before the Council, according to some of the Chiefs, even if he needs to use a wheelchair.
