Ghana’s U20 men’s national team, the Black Satellites defeated Premier League side Legon Cities in a friendly as part of preparations ahead of the WAFU Zone U20 Cup of Nations.
A brace from African Games star Jerry Afriyie helped the U20 team to a 2-1 victory at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. Legon Cities captain Frank Akoto netted for his side in an enthralling encounter.
The team is preparing for the WAFU Zone B championship, which begins on October 17 and ends on October 31, 2024, in Togo.
The Black Satellites are eager to make a return to the U20 Africa Cup of Nations after missing out in the last two editions.
Having won the Africa Games in March, coach Desmond Offei and his team travelled to Europe for a mini tour, where they engaged youth clubs from Belgium.
The team resumed camping last month and have since been involved in a series of test matches as the coach fine tunes his team for the championship.
Earlier on Thursday, the Black Satellites also defeated SMAC Soccer Club 2-1 with Ali Umar and Yussif Musah scoring the goals.
