President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has indicated that the decision to select players for the Black Stars is in the hands of coach Otto Addo and his technical team.
This is expected to put an end to the allegations that the GFA President has been imposing players on the current national team head coach and his predecessors.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Kurt Okraku said any coach who allows him to select players for him will be fired.
“If I hire a coach and the coach expects me to select players for him I will fire the coach. I’m repeating myself, if I hire a coach for Ghana and that coach expects me, Kurt to select players for him, that coach will be fired the next day because that is not the kind of coach I and we want to work with.
“Players for the Black Stars are selected by the technical team of the Black Stars led by the current coach Otto Addo. Simple,” Kurt Okraku said.
Ahead of Ghana’s doubleheader against Sudan in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Ghanaians are waiting for Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to announce his squad.
Sources have indicated that coach Otto Addo will announce his squad for the upcoming qualifiers this week.
