The President’s Office has responded to rumors around Nana Bediatuo Asante, the secretary to President Akufo-Addo, and his health.
The statement, also, assured the diplomat was “currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment”.
Concerns were raised especially on social media, Tuesday, October 1, regarding Nana Bediatuo Asante’s whereabouts and wellbeing when he did not return to Ghana after accompanying President Nana Akufo-Addo for the 79thUnited Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Wednesday night, the Office of the Presidency released a statement to clear the air, explaining Nana Bediatuo Asante had “stayed behind to conduct further government business” but “began to feel unwell”.
Apart from his earlier stated role, Mr Bediatuo Asanteserves, also, as an Ambassador-at-Large.

The President’s Secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante, is ill, and the Office of the President would like the public to know about it.
As a crucial member of President Akufo-Addo’s delegation during the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Nana Bediatuo Asante remained behind to handle additional government work after the meeting ended.
He was then admitted to the hospital after starting to feel ill.
He is currently in stable condition and is reacting positively to treatment.
According to the doctors, Nana Bediatuo Asante’s recuperation is on track, and we remain hopeful for his speedy return to full strength.
