Ghanaians are being warned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration not to submit fake documents when applying for visas.
The Ministry emphasized in a statement released on Thursday, October 16, 2024, that supplying fake or misleading documentation is illegal and subject to legal penalties.
The Ministry voiced its increasing concern about the growth in applicants submitting fake documents for visa validation, both intentionally and inadvertently.
The system’s integrity is compromised since these phony documents are frequently sent for processing.
“It must be noted that the presentation of forged or fake documents is punishable under sections 158, 159, 166, and 169 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29),” the statement indicated.
“The general public should kindly note that henceforth applicants who present forged documents would be handed over to the police and prosecuted accordingly. Members of the public are hereby to note and comply,” the statement warned.
