“ACCRA SPORTS STADIUM WON’T BE HOSTING SOCIAL EVENTS FOR THE TIME BEING” – NSA DIRECTOR GENERAL.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Bawa Majeed, has announced that the Accra Sports Stadium will not be available for social events for the time being.

This decision comes after the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was banned, leading to recent rehabilitation works at the Accra Sports Stadium, which has now received approval from FIFA and CAF to host international football matches.

Following this approval, Majeed Bawa emphasized that the facility will be reserved exclusively for sports, ensuring that the national team will have access whenever necessary.

“We will designate a facility for the national team, which will remain available to them whenever they are called to service, and we will ensure that the facility is protected. Nothing other than sports will take place at the facility.

“As we speak, the Accra Sports Stadium has received CAF and FIFA permission, and it will be operated as a national facility, which means no extracurricular activities will take place there,” Majeed Bawa quoted to have said on Akoma FM.

The Accra Sports Stadium is expected to host the Black Stars in their penultimate game of the AFCON qualifiers against Niger next month, before they head out to face Angola in the final game of the qualifiers.

After four matches, Ghana sits third in Group F with two points, while Sudan is in second with seven points, and Angola is at the top with twelve points.
