Ghana head coach Otto Addo is still searching for his first win in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and will be hoping to end that drought when the Black Stars face Angola and Niger in crucial back-to-back fixtures.
The four-time African champions endured a disappointing start to their campaign, losing 1-0 to Angola at home in their opening match, followed by a goalless draw away to Niger.
The Black Stars then played out another frustrating draw — a 0-0 stalemate with Sudan in Accra — before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Kwesi Appiah’s Sudanese side in the return fixture in Libya.
Currently sitting third in Group F with just two points from four matches, Ghana faces an uphill battle. The Black Stars are five points adrift of second-placed Sudan and 10 points behind group leaders Angola.
With qualification now out of Ghana’s hands, the team must secure victories in their final two qualifiers and hope Sudan drops points to have any chance of advancing.
A draw for Sudan in their remaining fixtures would end Ghana’s hopes of reaching the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
Ghana’s penultimate match will be against Angola on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda. Three days later, the Black Stars will host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium for their final qualifying match on Monday, November 18.
