This development comes ahead of the 2024 general elections, slated for December 7.
According to Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman, Operations, the soft copies were presented on external hard drives and contained several lists, including the Valid Voters Register, Exceptions List, Multiples List, Transferred Voters List, Absent Voters List, Manual Verification List, Proxy Voters List, and Special Voters List.
During the meeting, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) requested a summary of these lists, which the EC generated on a regional basis to enhance transparency and accountability.
The commission emphasized that providing statistics is not mandatory but did so in the spirit of responsiveness.
The EC assured stakeholders that the Certified Voters Register is robust and credible, urging the public to support the commission in delivering free, fair, transparent, and credible elections.
This move is in line with the EC’s earlier promise to release the Certified Voters Register within the first week of November 2024.
