“We are ready to pounce on Sudan’s missteps” – Gideon Mensah

Ghana Black Stars left-back, Gideon Mensah is confident that the team is ready to capitalize on any opportunities that come their way in the final stretch of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars, after failing to win any of their first four games in the AFCON qualifiers, currently have their hopes of participating in the AFCON hanging by a thread.

The team now needs to win their remaining matches against Angola and Niger, while also rooting for Sudan to stumble in their last two games.

“We are made for this. The journey is not always going to be smooth. We’ve come to a junction where we have to hope and work for ourselves,” Mensah said after the Black Stars’ first training session in Accra on Monday.

“We are going to watch the game and see what will happen but at the end of the day, the focus is to pick our six points and anything that happens on the side, we are there for it.”

Ghana faces Angola on Friday, November 15 in Luanda and then hosts Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
