NDC apologizes for unsavory comments against former President Kufuor

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned and distanced itself from unsavory comments made by one of its members, Dela Edem, targeting former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

In a press statement dated, November 17, 2024, the NDC welcomed Edem’s retraction and unconditional apology to the elderly statesman.

“The NDC adds its voice to the apology…and hopes that this retraction and apology brings closure to the matter,” Sammy Gyamfi, National Communication Officer of the NDC noted.

The party reaffirmed its respect for the elderly and statesmen in Ghanaian society.

However, the NDC also sounded a warning to the media, urging vigilance against fake news peddlers, particularly from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“It has become the modus operandi of some functionaries…to manufacture and disseminate fake news…to mislead the Ghanaian public,” Sammy Gyamfi noted.

The NDC emphasized the need for focus on its transformational policies under John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.

Additionally, the party called on the media to hold accountable those spreading misinformation, including known NPP communicators and presidential staffers.
