The late father of Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty(HRM) King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Dr Ebenezer Tackie will be buried on Saturday, 10th February 2024 after the final rites scheduled to take place at the durbar grounds at the Ga Traditional Council (GTC).
Dr. Ebenezer Nii Amarh Tackie, who died at the age of 83 was the Head of the Department of Architecture and Former Dean of the Faculty of Environmental and Development Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Sciences and Technology (KNUST).
This was disclosed on Thursday when a delegation from the Ga Mantse Palace called on the Mayor of Accra to officially inform her of the passing and funeral arrangements at the City Hall.
The spokesperson of the delegation, Joshua Abiashie Mensah said the entire funeral would be held at the Ga Manste Palace in Accra beginning with a wake-keeping and filing past Friday 9th February and the burial on Saturday at 8 am after which there will be a thanksgiving service on Sunday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Adabraka.
The final interment, according to the spokesperson, will take place in Accra.
The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey expressed her condolences to the family of the King and assured them of the AMA’s support for the funeral.
” The father of the late Ga Mantse is also our father… if the father of the Ga state has fallen, we have no choice but to support and mourn with the family. The funeral is also our funeral, and we are looking forward to making sure things are orderly and put in place for a successful and befitting funeral, ” she said.
She stated that she would visit the palace today to ensure all arrangements were in place for the funeral as planned.
In a related development, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey has presented assorted drinks and an undisclosed amount of money to the Ga Mantse, HRM King Teiko Tsuru II ahead of the final funeral rites of his late father.
The drinks presented included a carton of schnapps, 6 crates of Coca-Cola, 6 crates of Fanta, 6 crates of Sprite,5 crates of Malt, 3 crates of Heineken and 20 cartoons of mineral water.
The gesture which was in line with tradition and custom was received by Nii Ahene Nunoo III, Abola Mantse who was flanked by some members of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) and representatives of the bereaved family.
Commiserating with the bereaved King at the GTC, Mayor Sackey wrote in the book of condolence, “My condolence to you and the entire family. May God be with you all during this difficult time.”
She assured them of the Assembly’s full support before, during and after the funeral.
