The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, Baba Sadiq Abdulai, has been elected the Member of Parliament for the area.
He gave the incumbent Member of Parliament, Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a run for his money.
The Electoral Commission declared Baba Sadiq in the tightly contested race on Monday, December 9, 2024.
Baba Sadiq secured 15,383 votes, while his opponent Patrick Boamah garnered 14, 949 votes.
The election saw 30,332 valid votes and rejected 130 ballots.
However, controversy surrounds the outcome, as New Patriotic Party (NPP) members claim the declaration was made under coercion due to the collation center being locked.
