President Akufo-Addo names government side of Transition Team

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the government’s portion of the Transition Team to supervise the smooth transition of executive authority to the incoming administration in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

The team comprises key government officials, including:

  1. Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare – Chief of Staff (Team Co-Chairperson)
  2. Godfred Yeboah Dame – Attorney-General
  3. Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu – Minister responsible for Presidential Affairs
  4. Hon. Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam – Minister responsible for Finance
  5. Hon. Henry Quartey – Minister responsible for the Interior
  6. Hon. Dominic Nitiwul – Minister responsible for Defence
  7. Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey – Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs
  8. Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah – Minister responsible for Local Government
  9. Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah – Minister responsible for National Security

Additionally, the team will include:

  • Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh – Head of Civil Service
  • Dr. Nana Ato Arthur – Head of Local Government Service
  • Ambassador Mercy Debrah-Karikari – Secretary to the Cabinet
  • Mr. Edward Asomani – National Security Coordinator

In a meeting with President-elect John Dramani Mahama, who will be Co-Chairpersons, President Akufo-Addo will officially launch the Transition Team on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. When the President is not present, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has been assigned to serve as Co-Chairperson.

Additionally, the President has appointed Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, a former Speaker of Parliament, to the Advisory Council. The current Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, will serve as the council’s chair.
