An investigation has been opened by the Ghana Police Service and Ghana National Fire Service into a fire outbreak that happened at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools early on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The ballot boxes for the Ablekuma North Constituency are housed in the facility, which makes it interesting.
Police assured the public in a statement that anyone found to be at fault for the fire would face arrest and legal action. While the cause of the fire is being investigated, they asked the public to maintain their composure.
Following post-election unrest, tensions are still high as a result of this incident. In relation to these disturbances, 132 suspects have been taken into custody nationwide, according to the police.
45 of these have been placed under remand in custody, 71 are on police inquiry bail, and 16 are on court bail pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.
The public has been asked to cooperate totally as investigations continue, and authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to preserving peace and stability.
