East Legon Crash: Bishop Salifu Amoako’s son jailed 6 months

In a tragic accident in East Legon, Salifu Amoako’s teenage son was found guilty of manslaughter and given a six-month sentence at the Senior Correctional Center.

Convicted of manslaughter, the teen killed two passengers instantly when he crashed into another car.

The teenager had first entered a not guilty plea to charges of manslaughter, reckless driving, driving without a license, and negligently causing harm.

But he later pleaded guilty, which resulted in his conviction.

The teen was ordered by the court to report to probation officers every two weeks as part of the sentence. He has also been ordered to sign a pledge to abstain from driving until he is eighteen.

For failing to adequately supervise their son, the teen’s parents were fined 500 penalty units each, or GHc 6,000, in a different ruling.

They were also told to cover the cost of the accident’s damages, which included a GHc 8,000 light pole.
