High Court adjourns ruling on NPP’s mandamus application to January 1, 2025

A High Court in Accra, presided over by Justice Baah Forson Agyapong, has postponed its ruling on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) mandamus application until Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

This decision comes after intense arguments from both the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) counsel.

Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, counsel for the NDC, argued that the mandamus application lacks competence and fails to invoke the court’s jurisdiction, citing sections 123 and 286 of the PNDC law.

In contrast, Gary Nimako, counsel for the NPP, countered that the authorities cited by the NDC have no bearing on the application’s validity.

Gary Nimako also emphasized that the application does not seek to cancel any election results, as none have been declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).

After considering both arguments, Justice Agyapong decided to adjourn the case until January 1, 2025, to deliver the ruling on whether the mandamus application is competent for hearing.
