President John Dramani Mahama has nominated ten individuals to serve as Regional Ministers, pending parliamentary approval.
The nominees include Ali Adolf John for the Northern Region, John Kwadwo Gyapong for the Oti Region, and James Gunu for the Volta Region.
Other nominees are Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey for the Eastern Region, Ibrahim Tia for the North-East Region, Dr. Frank Amoakohene for the Ashanti Region, Akamugri Donatus Atanga for the Upper East Region, Charity Gardiner for the Ahafo Region, Salisu Be-Awuribe for the Savannah Region, and Linda Ocloo for the Greater Accra Region.
According to the nomination list, the nominees come from diverse professional backgrounds, including healthcare, media, education, and law. For instance, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the nominee for the Ashanti Region, is a medical professional and youth leader with expertise in healthcare, governance, and public service.
Similarly, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, the nominee for the Eastern Region, is a distinguished leader with a wealth of experience in governance, education, and community development. She holds an MPhil in Leadership from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Migration at the University of Ghana.
The nominees are expected to undergo parliamentary vetting before their appointments are confirmed.
