President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Sammy Gyamfi as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).

This move is seen as a significant step towards fulfilling the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 2024 manifesto promise of establishing the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

As Acting MD, Sammy Gyamfi will oversee the setup of the GoldBod, which will operate under the direction of the Minister for Finance.

The GoldBod aims to revitalize Ghana’s economy by ensuring the sustainable management and marketing of the country’s gold resources.

Sammy Gyamfi’s responsibilities will include formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector and providing mining support services to the industry.

His background as a lawyer, Economic Policy Analyst, and former employee of Exton Cubic Group Limited, a reputable mining company in Ghana, makes him well-suited for the task.

Mr. Gyamfi holds a solid educational background, having obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Law degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He also holds a Barrister at Law certificate from the Ghana School of Law and a Master of Arts degree in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana.

Additionally, he is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, where he obtained Executive Certificates in the Emerging Leaders and Strategic Leadership Programmes.

President John Dramani Mahama’s appointment of Sammy Gyamfi underscores the administration’s commitment to economic revitalization.

As the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has demonstrated his ability to communicate effectively and drive key initiatives forward.
