Mohammed Abdul-Salam has been appointed as the National Lottery Authority’s (NLA) acting CEO by President John Dramani Mahama.
In accordance with Article 195 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 45 (1) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722), the appointment took effect on January 15, 2025.
Abdul-Salam’s position is still temporary while the NLA Board consults with the Public Services Commission to provide guidance.
He currently serves as the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Northern Regional Secretary.
The Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., signed an official letter from Jubilee House congratulating Abdul-Salam and wishing him luck in his new position.
This comes after Sammi Awuku resigned from the NLA, where he had been working since the former president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.
Awuku resigned on Tuesday, January 13, 2025, stating that he was leaving because he was recently elected as the Eastern Region’s Member of Parliament for Akuapem North.
