The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the formation of a new Management Committee for the Senior Male National Team, the Black Stars.
The Committee will oversee the team’s administrative and logistical operations and will be chaired by Dr. Randy Abbey, an Executive Council member of the GFA. In addition to his role as Chairman, Dr. Abbey will lead engagements with the Government and other key stakeholders.
Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, will serve as Vice-Chairman, providing support to Dr. Abbey and focusing on Player Relations.
Other members of the Committee include Mr. Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association and an Executive Council member of the GFA, and Mr. Moses Armah, President of Medeama Sporting Club. They will be responsible for Operations and Matchday activities, ensuring the interests of Sponsors, Partners, and other collaborators are effectively managed.
Mr. Richard Nsenkyire, President of FC Samartex 1996, the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League champions, will serve as a Member responsible for Special Duties.
The Management Committee will be responsible for overseeing the overall management of the team, including developing and executing the strategic plan and activities. It will act as the liaison between the Technical Team and the GFA, ensuring proper camping arrangements, providing logistical support, and making regular visits to the team during camps. In collaboration with the Head Coach and Technical Team, the Committee will prepare and monitor the team’s adherence to Activity Schedules for all matches and tournaments.
Additionally, the Committee will oversee the release of funds from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support team operations, ensure optimal travel arrangements, and maintain a standard of conduct for all team members, reflecting the values of Ghana’s Ambassadors.
The Committee will also establish policies and procedures to ensure the effective management and support of both the playing squad and officials, while fostering a positive working relationship between the Committee, the Technical Team, and the players. It will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Departments of the GFA to ensure all obligations to Sponsors and Partners are met and that communication regarding the team is clear and efficient.
The GFA is confident that the new Management Committee will provide the expertise and experience needed to support the Black Stars in their pursuit of success.
