Majority leadership reshuffle set to begin today

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, a leadership change within the Majority Caucus in Parliament is scheduled to begin after Kwame Governs Agbodza was appointed Minister for Roads and Highways and Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson was appointed Finance Minister.

Announcing the upcoming changes on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the outgoingMajority Leader stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would finalize decisions regarding the party’s front bench leadership on Thursday.

Mahama Ayariga, the MP for Bawku Central, is favored to take Dr. Ato Forson’s place as Majority Leader, according to Caucus sources.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, a South Dayi MP, will succeed Governs Agbodza as Majority Chief Whip.

Other expected changes include the replacement of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Deputy Majority Leader with Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, the MP for Cape Coast South. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the second deputy whip, is probably going to be promoted to the first deputy whip position.

The goal of the restructuring is to fortify the Majority Caucus’ leadership as the NDC-led administration starts its governance program.
