MMDCE Selection Saga: Exposed Shortlists Reveal Party Insiders’ Favourite Candidates

The coalition of NDC Branch Executives has released shocking evidence of unauthorized shortlists, allegedly compiled by party insiders, which reveals the preferred candidates for the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) positions in the Greater Accra Region.

The leaked documents, which have been obtained by our sources, show that certain individuals have been handpicked by powerful figures within the party, bypassing the official vetting process.

According to sources close to the coalition, the shortlists were compiled without the knowledge or input of the regional minister, the party’s regional executives, or the constituents who are supposed to be represented by the MMDCEs.

The coalition claims that this is a clear indication of a deliberate attempt to undermine the democratic process and impose unelected individuals on the people.

The leaked documents reveal that some of the preferred candidates have questionable backgrounds, with allegations of corruption, mismanagement, and incompetence.

In some cases, the candidates lack the required qualifications and experience for the positions they are being considered for.”The people of Greater Accra Region deserve better than to have their leaders imposed on them by a select few,” said Animle Oyanka Oshimpa, leader of the coalition.

“We demand that the party leadership takes immediate action to address this issue and ensures that the selection process is transparent, fair, and democratic.”The coalition has threatened to release more evidence of the manipulation, including audio and video recordings, if their concerns are not addressed.

They are also calling for the immediate suspension of the selection process and the formation of an independent committee to investigate the allegations.

Political analysts believe that this development could have far-reaching consequences for the party’s reputation and its chances in future elections. “If the party is seen to be imposing unelected individuals on the people, it could lead to a loss of trust and confidence in the party’s ability to deliver good governance,” said Dr. Kwame Asante, a local governance expert.

The ruling party is under intense pressure to respond to the allegations and take decisive action to address the concerns of the coalition.

The Regional Minister’s office has promised to investigate the matter and take appropriate action, but the coalition is demanding more concrete steps to ensure transparency and accountability in the selection process.
