Asante Kotoko’s NCC Vice Chairman and General Manager of Okwawu United, Nana Kwame Dankwah, has revealed that supporters of the Kumasi-based club are unhappy with the incident that led to the demise of football fanatic Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley at the matchday 19 game between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at tha Nana kronmansah Park.
According to him, the supporters intended to retaliate, but fortunately, some highly respected individuals intervened in a timely manner, prompting them to abandon their plans.
In an interview on Original FM/TV, Nana Kwame Dankwah stated that Kotoko supporters are dissatisfied with how a gruesome murder incident has been handled and emphasized that they won’t be satisfied until those responsible are held accountable.
“Pooley was a loyal and dedicated fan of Kotoko “You won’t be far from right if you say Pooley is a communication member for Kotoko because he always stands and speaks for the team, people will not be happy until the killer is found and dealt with,” he told Gideon Okyere Anim, affectionately called Gattuso on Original Sports.
Nana Kwame Dankwah also proposed that all football activities be suspended this weekend as a mark of respect and solidarity with the grieving family.
“I propose that we dedicate this weekend to paying respects and showing solidarity with the bereaved family and the football people,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested scores of people in connection with the violent disturbances that occurred during the football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC on February 2.
