Frank Abrokwa, DCOP, has been moved to the Accra Police Headquarters.
Unknown thugs broke into the voting center and disrupted the sorting and counting of ballots, causing the election to descend into chaos.
Officials from the Electoral Commission (EC) had to halt the process after the attackers destroyed ballot boxes, knocked over tables, and dispersed voting materials, according to Metro TV.
The unexpected loss of National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, who was regarded as the front-runner, is thought to have been the catalyst for the unrest. The violence was allegedly started by irate supporters who demanded an examination of the outcomes.
