Abena Osei-Asare assumes position as Minister of State at the Finance Ministry

President Akufo-Addo has named the Deputy Minister of Finance, who also happens to be a member of parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) representing the Atiwa East district in the Eastern Region, as a minister of state.

Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare succeeds Mohammed Amin Adam, who was named the Finance Minister in his official capacity when Ken Ofori-Atta left the position on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, having held it for seven years and two months.

In addition, Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng, the NPP’s 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Western North Region’s Juaboso constituency, has been named Deputy Minister of finance. He assumes the role subsequent to Abena Osei-Asare’s promotion from Deputy Minister to Minister of state.

President Akufo-Addo reorganized his cabinet in the wake of the largest-ever shake-up on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, with the appointments of Mr. Abena Osei-Asare and Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng.

President Akufo-Addo has informed Speaker of Parliament Alban Somana Kingsford Bagbin of the new appointments, and it is anticipated that the two will be examined by the appointments committee of Parliament in the days to come.
