Akufo Addo will painfully hand over to me whether he likes it or not – Mahama

“Whether President Akufo-Addo likes it or not, he will painfully hand over to me because he will have no choice,” the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, stated at a mini community durbar at Widana, a sprawling farming community in the Pusiga constituency of the Upper East region.

According to Mr Mahama, President Nana Akufo Addo fears accountability after his family and cronies’ massive corruption and dissipation of state resources over the past seven years. The president, he noted, is now scheming to smuggle in Dr Mahamadu Bawumia to evade punishment and continue their loot of state resources.

“Ghana is for all of us. One family and a few people cannot steal state resources and wish to go scot-free,” he emphasised.

On a four-day campaign tour of the Upper East region ahead of the 7th December presidential and parliamentary elections, Mahama reiterated his commitment to prosecuting all corrupt government officials if he wins the elections.

“I am sure you have heard of the AGYAPADIE document. AGYAPADIE means inheritance. These people think the country is their inheritance and are bequeathing what is for all of us to themselves. Now, they say the document is fake. Let’s assume it is fake, so how come all the things mentioned in that book are being implemented?”

He reiterated that “my commitment to fight corruption will not be limited to NPP officials alone. I will equally go after my appointees if they are also found to be corrupt.”

The NDC leader charged the Widana community and Ghanaians to join forces to kick the NPP out of office in the coming elections. He added that they must vote for him as president and the NDC parliamentary candidate for Pusiga. He cautioned against skirt and blouse voting, stating that the NDC needs a clear majority to govern.
