After sustaining noticeable damage, the statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi has been restored.
The statue, which was unveiled to honor the President on November 6, 2024, had a large hole at the back of one of its legs, which led to a lot of conjecture about what caused the damage. Some locals thought it was intentional vandalism, while others thought it might have been a structural flaw.
According to witnesses, two gentlemen and a lady performed the repairs on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 4 p.m. By six o’clock at night, a policeman was also seen securing the area.
There is still conjecture regarding the precise cause of the damage. Some argue that it might have been caused by defects in the statue’s materials or design, while others think it was an intentional act of vandalism.
Even after being restored, the statue continues to be a source of controversy in the neighborhood, prompting concerns about its timing and suitability in light of other urgent developmental requirements.
