Ameyaw-Akumfi released from NIB ‘grips’

Former Public Procurement Authority Board Chairman Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi has been released from the National Intelligence Bureau’s (NIB) custody.

This happened when he was arrested in relation to a financial probe while serving as the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF) Board Chairman.

Ken Kuranchie, his lawyer, confirmed Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s release to Citi FM.

Ken Kuranchie claims that on Sunday morning, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at home when a group of guys in three vehicles showed up and told him he was needed at the NIB.

He willingly accompanied them to the NIB headquarters before being brought to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra.

According to Kuranchie, the inquiry concerns financial issues pertaining to specific approvals made during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s tenure as GIIF’s board chairman.
