Numerous members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Westen North Region’s Sefwi-Wiawso Constituency demonstrated against Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament.
This protest came when their Member of Parliament, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, was asked to leave the chamber by the Speaker over a “rude” remark.
The Speaker’s move, according to the outraged party members, was a grave insult to their MP and the people of Sefwi-Wiawso.
Speaking to the media, NPP Constituency Secretary Atta Marfo called the Speaker’s actions regrettable and requested an unconditional apology to their MP and the people of Sefwi-Wiawso.
The demonstrators have threatened to take additional action if their demand is not satisfied, and they have given the Speaker a week to apologize to their MP and the people of Sefwi-Wiawso.
