The NDC and NPP, two of Ghana’s main political parties, have received calls from Jacqueline Afful, Managing Director of Appointed Time Printing Press, to rethink outsourcing the manufacturing of their campaign materials to China.
Afful’s appeal coincides with rumors that both sides are purportedly outsourcing the printing of their pamphlets.
During an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show, Afful expressed disapproval of the practice, claiming that it damages the regional printing sector and forfeits a chance to increase job opportunities in Ghana.
“I wish I was at Channel One TV, I would have knelt down, we are pleading with them that capacity is here, the quality we can do the same and once we do this, all the unemployment we speak about, we could also give employment to some Ghanaians around this time.
“For us in Appointed Time, once we do this, we are also able to train the people on printing. So, some of them leave and then they can set up their small printing businesses alone.
“I will use your medium to appeal to the parliamentarians, political parties and businesses that sponsor politicians that at Appointed Time Printing, we have the capacity, we are competitive enough to deliver the political paraphernalia,” she stated.
