Armah-Kofi Buah, 3 regional ministers approved by Parliament

After considering their nominations, Parliament has approved Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah’s candidacy as Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, together with the nominations of three regional ministers-designate.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the nominees received approval to formally take on their respective positions.

The newly approved regional ministers-designate are:

Tia Ibrahim – North East Region
Dr. Frank Amoakohene – Ashanti Region
Akamugri Atanga Donatus – Upper East Region

After a rigorous screening procedure in which House members evaluated their credentials, background, and fit for their posts, they were approved.

It is anticipated that the recently nominated ministers-designate will lead regional development projects, collaborating with local government representatives to carry out policies and promote socioeconomic advancement.

The approval of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as the Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources was fiercely opposed by the Minority in Parliament, who pointed to Buah’s refusal to retract or apologize for remarks he made about former President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.

Armah-Kofi Buah admitted during his vetting that his comments, which were widely viewed as harsh or improper, were meant to reflect the situation at the time rather than to harm the former President.

Nevertheless, he refused to apologize or withdraw.
