Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and bankroller of Asante Kotoko, has made a deeply moving gesture by officially adopting the children of the late Nana Pooley, ensuring their well-being and future.
All of the deceased’s children have been enrolled in his educational fund, guaranteeing full financial support for their schooling. This generous contribution ensures they will have the necessary resources to continue their education without financial obstacles.
Pooley, a loyal Asante Kotoko fan, tragically lost his life in Nsoatre after being fatally stabbed during a match against Nsoatreman, leaving behind a grieving family who now face life without their father and primary breadwinner.
The Asantehene’s support was shared with the mourning family by Nana Apinkra Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko, during a meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and other stakeholders on Tuesday.
“The Asantehene has made a personal commitment to the well-being and education of your children through his education fund,” Nana Awuah said, offering reassurance that the children will not face any obstacles in securing their educational future.
This act is a testament to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s longstanding dedication to supporting education and assisting those in need.
The news has brought great relief to Pooley’s family, who had been deeply concerned about their children’s future after their father’s untimely passing. With the Asantehene’s intervention, they now have the assurance of continued education and a brighter future, free from financial burdens.
In addition to this support, Nana Apinkra Awuah shared that the Asantehene has ordered the transportation of the deceased’s body from Sunyani to Kumasi and has promised to cover all funeral expenses.
The One Week observation for the deceased will take place on Sunday, February 16th, at Heroes Park in Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Details of the final funeral rites will be announced in due course.
