Awingobit pledges to rebrand and reposition PNC through grassroots approach

The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana and an aspiring National Chairman of the People’s National Congress (PNC), Asaki Sampson Awingobit, has outlined his top priority if elected.

Speaking with Metro TV’s Annie Afua Ampofo, Mr. Awingobit said his main goal is to reposition and rebrand the PNC, which he believes, has a bigger problem in terms of public perception and visibility among voters.

He lamented that, “When you mention the PNC today, nobody knows it, so it has a bigger problem on the positioning of the party, how well the party is branded to catch the attention of the voters,”.

Mr. Awingobit posited that the PNC, once a popular political force with representation in Parliament, has recently been plagued by internal wranglings and power struggles, resulting in legal battles and a tarnished public image, becoming a pale shadow in its existence as a political party.

For the aspiring National Chairman of PNC, to address these challenges, he pledged to adopt what he described as a “bottom-up approach” to revive the party’s base ahead of the 2024 elections.

“When voted on, I want to do a bottom-up approach to revive the party base for the election 2024,” Awingobit stated. “I will lead a team of executives to pay surprise visits to the regions to energize our party base.”

Furthermore, Mr. Awingobit plans to constitute a team of serial callers who will be responsible for calling into media discussions daily and incorporate them into the party’s communication strategy to help reposition the PNC in the minds of Ghanaians.

On August 31, 2024, PNC will be conducting its internal elections to elect national executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next 4 years. The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters is hopeful the delegates will give him the opportunity to serve the party in the capacity as the National chairman of the People’s National convention (PNC).
