Meanwhile, Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has underscored the need for a strategic approach to combat illegal mining, known locally as galamsey.

He expressed concern over the alarming situation at mining sites, particularly the use of harmful heavy metals like mercury, which poses serious health risks to Ghanaians by contaminating water bodies and land.

Majority leader Mr. Alexander Afenyo Markin chimed in, advocating for an end to the blame game surrounding the galamsey issue.

He emphasized that supporting the government’s decision to address the problem is crucial, as they have employed necessary measures, including military involvement and scientific approaches.
