The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced the nominees for the men’s categories of the 2024 CAF Awards, which will take place on December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.
The CAF Awards 2024 will recognize performances from January 2024 to October 2024. The various categories for the prestigious award include; CAF African Player of the Year, CAF Interclub Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and National Team of the Year.
Ten players were nominated for the Player of the Year, they include; Amine Gouiri (Algeria / Rennes), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso / Bayer Leverkusen), Simon Adingra (Cote d’Ivoire / Brighton & Hove Albion), Chancel Mbemba (DR Congo / Olympique de Marseille), and Serhou Guirassy (Guinea / Borussia Dortmund).
Also on the list are; Achraf Hakimi (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain), Soufiane Rahimi (Morocco / Al Ain), Ademola Lookman (Nigeria / Atalanta), William Troost-Ekong (Nigeria / Al Kholood), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns).
After a remarkable CAF Confederations Cup, Dreams FC has been nominated for Club of the Year. Youngster Abdul Aziz Issah, who recently joined Barcelona B, has also received nominations for both the Interclub Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year categories.
Aziz is joined by his former teammate and compatriot, John Antwi on the list for the Interclub Player of the Year. South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Egypt’s Mostafa Shobeir and so on are also in the category.
Winners in each category will be decided through votes from a diverse panel that includes the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and the Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of Inter.
