Outgoing Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Regional Ministers, and other political appointees have been reminded by the Office of the President to return all official cars by January 3, 2025.
As the second and last term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo draws to a close, this decree, which was first given in 2020 at the end of his first term, is still in full force.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 11, the president’s office emphasized that no current administration appointee would be allowed to purchase an official car.
Special Assistants, Special Aides to the President and Vice President, Regional Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Ministers of State, and other political appointees, including Chairpersons or Members of Statutory Boards and Corporations, are all subject to the directive.
The Chief Director of the appropriate Ministries must have all government cars back by the deadline.
