Dr. Acquah-Coleman elected president of Ghana Psychological Association

The Ghana Psychological Association (GPA) has announced Dr. Richmond Acquah-Coleman as its new National President during the 2024 Annual General Meeting.

A seasoned Industrial and Organizational Psychologist, Dr. Acquah-Coleman has served the GPA in various leadership roles, including Public Relations Officer, Treasurer, and National Secretary, bringing over eight years of executive experience to his new position.

Dr. Acquah-Coleman’s extensive background in organizational psychology, employee mental health, and academia makes him a strong choice to lead the GPA in advancing the practice of psychology in Ghana.

As a lecturer, researcher, and consultant, he has been actively involved in promoting mental health awareness, workplace wellness, and psychological research across the nation.

In his new role, Dr. Acquah-Coleman has outlined his vision for the GPA, which focuses on enhancing professional development for psychologists, raising public awareness of mental health issues, and advocating for improved mental health policies. He is committed to forging strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure that psychology plays a central role in national development.

Dr. Acquah-Coleman will work alongside a dynamic team of newly elected executives: Mr. Peter Mintir Amadu (Vice President), Mr. Seth Asafo (Secretary), Mr. Feikoab Parimah (Treasurer), Dr. Isaac Newman-Arthur (Public Relations Officer), and Ms. Sarah Woldeamanuel (Organizing Secretary). Together, they aim to strengthen the GPA’s influence and impact on mental health advocacy and professional growth within the psychological community.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Acquah-Coleman expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him by GPA members and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the practice of psychology and promoting mental health and well-being across Ghana.
